For Students Graduating From High School
The following scholarships are made available by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and are awarded by the Minister of Education to high school students in the province. They are based on the Department of Education scholarship score which is derived from the results of public exams. In excess of 200 scholarships are awarded each year.
- The Junior Jubilee Scholarship
This scholarship has a value of $2,500.00. It is awarded annually to the high school graduate who achieves the highest Department of Education scholarship score. - The Electoral District Scholarships
These scholarships, valued at $1,000.00 each, are awarded annually to the three high school graduates in each electoral district who achieves the highest Department of Education scholarship score. - The Centenary of Responsible Government Scholarships
Fifty-five scholarships, valued at $1,000.00 each, are awarded to high school graduates based on the Department of Education scholarship score provided they have not already been awarded another government scholarship. - Constable W.C. Moss Scholarship
This scholarship has a value of $1,000.00. It is awarded annually to a son or daughter of a member of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, or of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (active, retired or deceased), who achieves the highest Department of Education scholarship score. The Constable W.C. Moss Scholarship requires an application which is available from high school principals.

Horizons Scholarship for Grade 9 students intending on applying to Memorial University upon graduation:
Interested students may submit an application to the guidance counsellor or principal from their school for review, at which point the guidance counsellor /principal will chose one student to nominate to the University. Scholarships will be awarded based on community involvement and volunteer work.
HORIZONS is the only program of its kind in North America, and is made possible through the generosity of the Fry Family Foundation in partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland.
This year, the Fry Family Foundation is offering 50 scholarships to Grade 9 students across the province, each valued at $1200. Selected candidates are then welcomed into a leadership development program that extends into their time at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador
Scholarship Pageant's 5th Anniversary event scheduled for October 14-17, 2010 in St. John's, with the gala crowning at Holy Heart Auditorium. Young women between the ages of 13-18 are eligible to compete. Deadline for applications is July 31, 2010.
The winner of the Miss Teen Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship, with the 1st Runner-up being awarded $1,000 and the 2nd Runner-up $500. There are also several other individual awards which are scholarship based.

MUN & MI applicants are automatically considered for the entrance scholarships on the basis of their average in their Level III credits. Other scholarships and awards at MUN and MI have specific criteria and can be applied for in September.

College of the North Atlantic (CNA), and other Private Colleges (Compu College, Academy Canada, Keyin College, Lawrence College)
Students who are accepted in to the College of the North Atlantic are offered the opportunity to apply for scholarships, awards and bursaries. Most of these awards are based on the academic performance of students in their CNA program.
MUN & MI applicants are automatically considered for the entrance scholarships on the basis of their average in their Level III credits. Other scholarships and awards at MUN and MI have specific criteria and can be applied for in September.

Examples of companies and associations who offer scholarships are: NAPE, CUPE, NLTA, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and Newfoundland Light & Power.
