Upgrading Courses and Adult Basic Education
High School Credit Program Involves the same courses, texts and graduation requirements as in regular high school.
Upon completion of required courses, participants earn their high school diploma in General or Academic Programs granted by the Department of Education. Applicants for the High School Credit Program must be 18 during the calendar year of application and out of school for at least 6 months.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a high school equivalency program designed for adults who did not complete high school or who wish to upgrade their credentials in one or more subject areas. Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a provincial program for adult learners and is made up of three levels: Level I refers to basic literacy and roughly equates to K-6; Level II is considered equivalent to grades 7-9; Level III corresponds to grades 10-12 and requires the completion of a minimum of 36 credits in order to graduate.
Transfer: College - University (CNA) is designed for students who want to take first-year equivalent university courses (transferable to Memorial University and other universities) or students who want to increase their chances of being accepted into university schools/faculties in their second year.
College Transition - (CNA) is designed for students who want to meet the entrance requirements to a specific college program or for those wanting to explore post-secondary career options.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
In order to enroll in the ABE Program, a student must be at least 17 years of age and out of the school system for at least one year.

General Education Diploma
The General Educational Development (GED) test can give you the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. These tests are designed to measure the general knowledge, ideas and thinking skills that are normally acquired through three years of high school.
You are able to take the GED tests if you:
· are at least 19 years of age or older;
· are not currently enrolled in a high school program;
· have not already graduated from high school;
· are a Newfoundland and Labrador resident of not less than six months.
